Nomos

Nomos (originally called Nomos Glashütte) is a German watch company founded in 1991 by Roland Schwertner and Suzy Gunter. They gained notoriety in Glashütte for being the first company to make watches bearing the same name as the town. Nomos watches are mechanical and hand wound. They are known for being simple yet sophisticated at the same time.

The Nomos Tangente Power Reserve is a manually wound Delta movement Nomos men's watch with a sapphire crystal back. The silver plated dial, which has Arabic and hour markings has a circular opening where you can see the amount of wind left in the watch before it needs to be wound. As the watch winds down, a red display appears and gets larger until the watch is fully wound. The baton hands on the dial are made of polished steel and then flame blued and the ratchet and crown are decorated with starburst patterns. The steel alloy case on this water-resistant watch is nickel-free. The hand-stitched strap is made of Shell Cordovan, the most expensive type of leather on a watchband. This smooth, water-repellent, and durable leather is generally only used on custom-made shoes and briefcases.

Another great-looking watch is the Nomos Tangomat Epsilon Sapphire Back watch. These watches have been very much in demand and with good reason with the special Nomos automatic calibers (Epsilon and Zeta) giving them the automatic movement consumers crave due to the extreme accuracy. Another reason for the accuracy is the increased radius of the rotor used in Nomos watches. The lugs of the watch have uniquely curved pattern, which allow it to mold to your wrist making it so comfortable you may forget you have it on. The dial, which is similar to the Tangente as are many of the parts of this watch, is sand blasted and then bathed in silver to give it the famous Nomos color consumers have come to recognize.

The Nomos watches have been known for being dependable and classy timepieces, which explains their higher price. The craftsmanship that goes into their designs succeeds in giving them their stylish appearance. There are sites online where you can view and purchase Nomos watches. When you purchase a watch from Nomos or a Nomos dealer, your name and serial number is registered with Nomos so you will get the full warranty protection.
